I think we have all 6 spots filled, Santa Anna. I recommend that we operate on regular turns of 48 hours, but 72 hours for the first turn, but that's up to you and the players to determine that.

Sounds good to me. Unless anybody objects, I plan to start things on the 26th or 27th (what with most of us being busy with Christmas and everything)

Though I'm open to everyone else's opinions as well.

I'll take the British Empire and Canada, thank you. May I (and I think Dr. Hendrei Gromsinger would) recommend that you take up the name of William Pitt the Even Younger Just look at the blackadder episodes.

[Insert joke about the age-old Jewish custom of Chinese food and a movie on Christmas] I'm going to have guests over from Israel running from this Friday until the 31st, so it's easier on me if we start on the 26th/27th. I'll manage anyway, but it's easier on me.

In any case, can we start plotting, negotiating, and scheming yet, or must we wait?

In any case, can we start plotting, negotiating, and scheming yet, or must we wait? You can send me a PM anytime about Diplomacy and I'll be damned if I don't reply to it instantly. In other words, we can have another Treaty of Tilsit, if you want.

Here's a thought I wanted to offer to all, because some information should be free:
France/Rhine and the good ol' US of A are in a tricky position. They have more units on their respective continents than anyone else, but none on the opposite continent. This gives them a military advantage in the short run, but a handicap in the long run. With a little luck and clever manipulations, they can steamroll and dominate the one continent, but then they'll have a hard time crossing over to the other.
They also suffer, by virtue of that local advantage, from instant Early Leader Syndrome. Anyone who allies with Goliath must beware the possibility that they'll be stepped on when the alliance's easy targets have been trounced, so France and the US have to work to placate their allies. Maybe even work so hard that their lead gets worn down, if an ally is particularly frightened. It's a tricky balance. And, of course, they have to worry not to end up with too many builds in the wrong country, which is an easy situation to end up in when their two countries are so close together.
A more complicated position than it initially seems, huh?
This has been offered as food for thought. Russia and Spain welcome all emissaries, diplomats, siesta buddies, and prospective human popsicles, from any country.

Dr. Hendrei Gromsinger, you're forgetting the other half in your display name. You ought also call yourself General Malaria in addition to the Winter one. It's the tropics after all! General Winter & Malaria... Oooof, double whammy lol.

I'm going to start the game tomorrow, if there are no further objections. But I'd rather hear from those who haven't said anything about the start date first. tpc, Europyrealm, Victor Katz

I rather like 26th or 27th. If tomorrow is inevitable, I would ask for the Force's assistance.

I'm on standby as the assistant GM here in addition to the main GM Santa Anna. So you have two non-players if you need impartial help. But on top of that, if you're working with one of the other players, your ally wouldn't mind giving you help with your orders (he might not be completely neutral and impartial though ). Just watch out when he's patting you on the back because he's looking for a better spot to stab you in there! For general information about game rules, you can always either post a question (or go back to the PMs if it's too private for an open question).
