Anybody playing Chess? I used to play it when I was really little and now I'm getting back on it, because I met a new mate who used to be a semi-pro chess player. (1500+ FIDE rating) I'm currently learning the delicacies of the game, the only opening I can play without screwing up is the Italian game but we all have humble beginnings, I guess. If y'all have good opening moves for a beginner or some tips or tricks, that'd be helpful.

Played it like 7 years ago, don't get the time anymore. Tried online chess but obviously didn't get that feel of those actual chess pieces.

I'm a very casual Chess player, not particularly competent, know the mechanics but not the fancy strategies.
There really are only two kinds of chess players, and it takes a yuge investment to go from one to the other. You have casuals (like me) and pros (who have spent ages learning history, big games, strategy, etc)

So let's study some openings!' Turns out, the best books about openings are at least 300 pages long, and has 3+ volumes, haha. I guess I'm going to have to stick with my semi-professional friend.

My recent games were all with easy AI. Still was pretty fun though. But don't professional Chess games start at the 6th or 8th turn?
