Apparently for one of the stupid questions required to complete a chapter is that I'm supposed to be able to spell this:

Yeah... Fine! I'm using this phone so I can check for the stupid spelling while putting in those two words.

Oh wow thanks I wanted people to enjoy gaming on this little forum. Hosting the current ongoing Diplomacy game is time-consuming, especially the editing orders part (so I don't reveal the secret locations), and preparing the maps to send to each individual player (and making sure those maps ends up going to the right people too). Those two things can take up maybe 1 to 2 hours in total or sometimes it's shorter. I've planned ahead and set up a method which saves me TONS of time with the graphics work at the very beginning of the game, so I just have to go through the same streamlined process again and again for each map. If I didn't do that streamlining, recreating a map from scratch would take plenty more of time than it would be right now (think x10 or x15 longer). |

So Reddit's quarantined a bunch of hate subs and /r/FC (a Tankie meme sub - so guess how well this batch of quarantines have gone with the Socialist and Anarchist crowd) as well. While I still disagree with Tankies, and hate subs are obviously disgusting, IMO it's a tad worrying (esp. as quarantining does nothing but make the subreddit echo chamber even more echoey). I guess I'm just worried that this is going to affect other subs that do controversial content (not just the hate subs and extreme tankies), as I have no desire to see Reddit censor everything that doesn't conform into ad-friendly, US mainstream-friendly perspectives, though I guess Reddit as a company probably wants that outcome for the ad revenue (I stand closer to Karl Popper on the issue of free speech - basically the Paradox of Tolerance). Still, I'd still trade losing tankie memes for a bunch of hate subs not appearing on /r/all. Edit: Checked out the 'Historical site about Communism' linked on /r/FC's quarantine page . It's the anti-USSR links page from an old wordpress blog, with defunct links, Rummel's rather shaky scholarship about gulag deaths, and some extreme nationalists - basically, there seems to be some sites there that might have done some research, but there's also a lot that are Black Book of Communism-tier stuff (as in the 'triple the mainstream analysis of deaths caused by Stalin, and fudge the rest to add up to nice round numbers' type of stuff that encourages the tankies to deny Stalin's wrongdoings even more) - really, Stalin already has the blood of a lot of people on his hands, no need to make up even more stuff to make him look even more evil. Basically, posting that site as history is like posting Soviet propaganda and Foxconn as 'a History of Capitalism' or the Westboro Baptist Church and the CSA as 'a History of the USA' - unintentionally biased at best, propaganda at worst. At least say it's a collection of sites about the crimes of the USSR. |
