Starting Map: Link. It's rotated for some reason, so plox Download and rotate offline (or just rotate your monitor/head/browser)1492 isn't your run-of-the-mill Dippy: the main new mechanic in this variant is that of exploration - every non-home SC, and a good portion of the map, must be uncovered by using your units to explore the unexplored portions of the map. Once a player has discovered a new region, they may choose to share their knowledge to the others or keep it to themselves, however, only regions discovered by all players will be revealed (which means that if everyone keeps their discoveries to themselves, and none of you all discover the same province, y'all would be playing Dippy blind). The full rules are in the link below, and I'll try to clarify anything confusing on request. www.variantbank.org/results/rules/1/1492.htmPlease read the full rules before signing up.
England: Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb France: Spain: Portugal: Frederick the Great If there's a 5th player, I'll carve out a new power from the uninvadable super-duper European-and-the-bit-of-Turkey-in-Asia Union.

So, in the rules it says that only named provinces will be passable. I assume we can land armies in ,let's say, Arctic province and explore eastward as well?

The north of the map is an edge though, so you can't go north from Arctic, or south from whatever people name what would be antarctica (except it isn't because I'm making a new map).

Is the map ready, Transfermium? Christ Pantocrator, Santa Anna, we still have Spain, France available. And @ottovonbismarck, I had talked with the GM, back and forth about how this variant works. We both agree that a 5th position is easily added without impacting the map, since the rules prohibit the entering into others homes, and the European waters has a special condition of no limit on how many fleets can float around in them (doesn't applies to the seas outside the starting map). None of the African or Asian spaces that are currently visible on the starting map has a SC in them, so it's definitely beyond any doubt that a fifth power can be drawn onto the map without an issue.
One more announcement: if we still somehow end up short of the 4 people expected to play, I will join. I haven't seen the map that the GM is making, so don't worry guys, I have no secret advantage over you.

Tolbethessar, almost finished, but the map is the definition of cr*ppy computer-made maps. Hey! Let's see y'all do better with Paint.NET and a laptop trackpad! Anyhow, as long as it's more-or-less balanced, it shouldn't matter, no?

Let's see y'all do better with Paint.NET and a laptop trackpad!Anyhow, as long as it's more-or-less balanced, it shouldn't matter, no? Oh really? Hmm... I got a $25 logitech corded mouse (wireless mice are BS), and the free GIMP on my hard drive. Should I go ahead and accept the challenge? I kid... I kid... Anyway, I'm glad you're ready to move on. (To be honest, the first season won't be possible for any players to sneak off the starting portion of the map anyway, so the earliest venture into the dark unknown would be Fall 1492 at the soonest. So you might as well launch the game tonight if we get up to 4 people.)

Appreciate the signup, thank you! I am Tolbethessar’s friend, btw By the way, you can edit your post, so you can go back and add something without double-posting, just in case if you weren't aware. Most forums don't allow double-posting, and while I don't encourage it, the ones that comes up every now and then, just on occasion, etc... I'm not going to be bothered or annoyed by it. IF it's something that's so chronic and so frequent, well, I would have to encourage a reduction, but definitely preferably no triple-posting as that's rude. (exceptions such as: the annoucements made by a host of a thread, or a story thread, or an on-going update log, or something like a staff announcement, that sort of thing, etc)
